Goal
We are developing a wearable, non-transmitting fetal movement tracker to enable reliable and safe at-home, low-cost monitoring of fetal movements. We believe that our tracker will provide reassurance and peace of mind to expectant parents.
Progress highlights
We have developed a new wearable system based on a novel combination of vibration sensors. We were recently awarded funding to develop and clinically validate the tracker by the Wellcome Leap. Read the news story here. The project is a collaboration between University College Dublin and University of Dhaka.
In 2024 we ran a clinical study in collaboration with Prof Fionnuala McAuliffe in the National Maternity Hospital. 40 participants wore the tracker over the last four weeks of pregnancy. In 2025, we built upon the success of the first study, enhancing the design of the wearable tracker, and expanding the study to the entire last trimester. 60 participants will use the tracker over the course of the study. Watch this space for updates on what we will discover about the magic of fetal movements!
We are so grateful to the wonderful participants in our two clinical studies in the NMH. Our research would not be possible without their dedication and generosity.
