Healthy development of the paediatric skeleton is essential for health and wellbeing. When any aspect of muscle or bone progresses sub-optimally in infanthood or childhood, the consequences on quality of life and even life expectancy can be severe. In close collaboration with Prof Connor Green and other leading clinicians in paediatric orthopaedic surgery, radiology and endocrinology we are investigating a number of research lines including Perthes’ disease (Hannah Kane‘s PhD project), stable hip dysplasia and medical device design for paediatric orthopaedics (Páraic O’Ciaruáin‘s PhD). For more details on our collaborative research in the children’s orthopaedics, please visit the website for the UCD Centre for Children’s Orthopaedics and Innovation (CORI), for which Prof Nowlan and Prof Green are the Co-Directors.
